Sherlock Holmes

Sherlock Holmes is one of the most famous fictional characters in the history of fiction writing. Holmes first featured in the year 1887, in ‘A Study in Scarlet’ which was published in 1887. In total he appeared in 56 short stories and four long novels.

Detective Sherlock Holmes is depicted to be a person of extraordinary abilities and rather eccentric habits. His specialty is his effeicient use of the deductive method to reach conclusions. His extremely active imagination and ability to test several hypothesis enables him to draw startling results. In all of his adventures Holmes was able to catch the culprits except in ‘A Scandal In Bohemia’ and ‘Sign Of Four’ as he admits himself in one of the stories.

On many occasions The Scotland Yard asked Holmes for help in investigation of complex cases but afterwards he was robbed of all the credit.
